Which airlines are banned in the European Union?

European authorities ban particular airlines from being able to operate within the European Union. Safety is the concern. Which airlines are banned and which are only allowed to operate under specific conditions? Read on to find out.
List of banned airlines
The European Commission cooperates with the Member States' aviation safety authorities to determine the safety standards for the airlines Those not meeting the essential safety requirements are not allowed to operate within the European Union. Those not meeting the standards fully are allowed to operate under specific conditions only.
The list of banned a restricted airlines is updated regularly and published on the European Commission website under Air Safety section. The updates are also published in the Official Journal of European Union.
There are currently 20 pages in the list. Most banned airlines come from Africa, Indonesia or Philippines. Among airlines able to operate under specific conditions only, Iran Air or Ukrainian Mediterran EAN are listed.
