Low cost carriers propose massive price increase
Particular India's low cost airlines have proposed a massive increase in ticket prices. Some say, the airfares could even triple. That would be an end in itself for low cost flying in India.
Possible triple airfare increase
It has been announced by SpiceJet and Indigo. According to the new pricing proposal submitted to the civil aviation authorities, the fares should be determined on a four-slab basis.
Flights booked on a short notice would cost as much as three times more. For example, a Delhi – Bangalore route is now around RS 10,000. In case, the new proposal comes to effect, the fare could go up to RS 40,000.
Low cost carriers cutting costs
Many of the India's low cost airlines are starting to charge for services usually included in the ticket price. JetLite, GoAir or Indigo passengers are now paying for on-board refreshments. The explanation is simple. They just started to follow the western-world pattern in order to boost their profit statements.
