Virgin America provides the best passenger service

Back to news

Only 3 years in operation and yet the airline has received a top industry honor. Air Transport World, a magazine covering the airline industry since 1974, is announcing it's regular Industry Achievement Awards. The awards will be presented in Washington D.C. on February 8.

Raising the customer service bar

Virgin America is known for providing extraordinary passenger services. It was the first airline to offer in-flight Internet connection on every flight (since May 2009). Passengers on board can enjoy the benefits of top-level in-flight entertainment systems featuring large touch-screens. As Perry Flint, Editorial Director of Air Transport World says, the airline disproved the notion that there's nothing new to offer for airline passengers.

The airline also maintains high service levels. Let's mention two metrics worth noting. Through the period January – August 2010, 99.6% flights were successfully completed. Per 1,000 customers only 0.89 bags were mishandled.

Another award to add to the list

For the three year history, the airline has already captured a long list of industry awards. It was able to uphold some of the most recognized awards for three times in a row. Including Conde Nast Traveler's Best Domestic Airline, Travel + Leisure's World's Best Award and best-in-class in Zagat Global Airline Survey.
