Iberia introduces checked baggage fee

Back to news

The flag carrier of Spain Iberia has introduced new charges for checked baggage. It is the second classic carrier after Dutch KLM which charges their passengers‘checked bags on European and domestic flights.

Passengers of Iberia who buy the Economy Basic or the Economy Express tickets have no checked baggage permitted on flights within Spain and Europe. Only one piece of cabin baggage is allowed. Its maximum dimensions are 56×45×25cm. These pieces must fit in the size-check devices at the airports otherwise they will be checked-in. You can take some other items onboard except one piece of hand baggage. They include a handbag or small briefcase, a laptop computer or photo camera and a baby’s bag with food, drink and equipment for the flight.

If you travel with Iberia and want to check-in your baggage, you will have to pay extra money. It is cheaper when you buy it ahead and online. The first piece costs USD/€ 15, the second and following USD/€ 30. However, when you check-in your suitcases at the airport, it will be twice as expensive, so you will pay USD/€ 30 for the first piece and USD/€ 60 for the second and following pieces.
